Site Purpose

This site is designed to serve as a reference for the supply chain blogs of Shaun Snapp. Their orientation is technology and new concepts in supply chain. The blogs hyperlinks along with a description are listed below.

The Blogs

Service Parts Planning

While reading this blog, you may notice an occasional link out to the site http://spplan.wordpress.com. This is a subarea of interest to me called service parts planning, which I also happen to sometimes work in. The service parts planning module in SCM is called SPP and any article I write on SPP is listed on SAP SCM Planning. However, the service parts planning blog gets into both broader issues related to serice parts – such as service parts networks for automobiles, as well as non-SAP software such as MCA and Servigistics.

SAP Planning

I also have links to my SAP planning blog which focuses on the SAP SCM module as well as some planning functionality in SAP ERP. Fourth party logistics is supported specifically by the SCM Event Management modules and this blog is crosslinked with SAP Planning where SAP Planning discusses the technical aspects of EM, with Fourth Party Logistics taking on the more business oriented issues related to EM.

Fourth Party Logistics

While writing the book Discovery SAP SCM, I ended up performing research on fourth party logistics providers. This is blog is primarily focused on the systems necessary to create true 4PL providers and is thus most closely associated with the SCM EM module.

GPS for Supply Chain

GPS tracking is for much more than vehicles. GPS can be used to track pallets and could be an important component to event management. This blog is focused on exploring this area of supply chain tracking.

Supply Chain Innovation

This blog focuses on experimental ideas for ways to apply technologies and processes to supply chain. We think that the degree of supply chain innovation is low, and needs new and fresh ideas.
